Madeleine McCann: the missing check.

much is said and spoken about the checking of the children by the tapas9, the nickname given by the uk media at the time, only one pair has told they never checked any children, because they had a baby monitor, that was the family payne, together with grandmother webster, that with the 2 young children stayed the floor above the others.

all 3 other families told they have checked their children. it took quite a while before was found out how often, or within what time frames they did that, all between each hour at the start, to change pretty quickly to become every 15 minutes, but from the statements to the police it became known as every half hour.

most is told in detail about the thursday evening and all the checking done. there is still not clear if the children of the mccann family had been checked once by the father around 21.00 hours, that one did not change much, once by the friend matt oldfield, who stayed with his young family in unit 5b directly next to unit 5a the mccann family stayed in. but it is a strange story, operation grange even left it from their documentary they travelled to the dutch public with. and the description of matt o. is telling about strange details.

matt o. also told he checked by habbit even earlier the children in unit 5a by listening at the shutters. he even did that shortly before gerry mccann did his own check. but the story out there is that when gerry mccann made his wife known it was time for her turn to check their 3 children around 21.30 hours, matt o. also was standing up to do his own next check, and he offered to go instead, he was told he had to go in, and could use the unlocked patio doors at the back of unit 5a.

what follows is matt o. telling he only saw the two younger children in their cots, but never saw madeleine, and he had never took access into the bedroom at all, but looked in from the hallway through the still left open bedroom door.

so far it is a known story, but when it is just over 22.00 hours by gerry mccann his watch he again summoned his wife he turn is due. in time that is about a half our later than the earlier check.

the checking schedule of the third family the o'brien/tanner pair was broken, because they ended up with a child that gotten ill.

but still the only one who is known to do a check was kate mccann, but where was the check of the oldfield/mampilly family of 5b. both these parents told a lot about their checking, not only in statements to the police, but rachel also did to the media.
from that is known that rachel did not like to do the checks when it was dark. but why was kate mccann the only one who had to walk in the dark around 22.00 hours to unit 5a. why was there not a ongoing checking by the oldfield/mampilly. matt o. painted himself as a avid and very timely checker of children, not only his own, no he even listen to the bedroom window with shutters of units 5a and 5d.

how could it be that kate mccann has to walk on her own. not only her time she walked, but kate took by gerry mccann his statement a longer time to get back, on his watch again he was just thinking to stand up and to go looking why she was not back.

so even during kate her absence there still was no check done by matt or rachel in unit 5b. matt checks lastly around 21.30 hours, so that one was long overdue.

such details are for me things to put extra attention too,  because my experience with medical doctors is not that they are superb in keeping times, at least not in their work related efforts. and being with all the adults from that group of friends with dining and drinking, that too are usually situations that keeping time, without setting an alert on a device you can carry, and they always stated not to have taken phones, and from gerry his statement it is unlikely that he would set a alarm time of .03  or .33 on his watch if it had that function present.

kate standing up must have been enough to make the others attent on her doing that, 9 people, even when 1 or more even been no longer around because of the sick child in 5d less people, is not the amount you do no longer are noticing when people stand up from the table. so that would have been a moment to remember you at least soon had to do your own check.
and it would be even more natural to join during the walk up, like matt and russell earlier that evening did at the 21.30 hours check.

matt even tells they didn't go to check, but no explanation, what is strange for the one who so avidly checked, and the only one who not only checked his own, but also on the others.  finishing a plate can take of course a few extra minutes, but still all the time kate was gone, nor matt, nor rachel goes out to do a check on their young child.

this is a point to take in mind when you look into this story, it is an anomaly, only after the alarm kate had said given, and all place that around 22.00 hours, but it must be well over 22.00 hours if gerry his watch was a bit in line with the exact time, the pair checked if all was well with their child.

there is simply no true time known for the alarm given. if you look again over how operation grange put it together in their reconstruction with actors, there is no check by matt at all. and that would only be logic if the alarm was in reality much earlier.

also why be as sharp on that 21.30 hours check, when gerry only came back around 21.15 hours to the restaurant table, because he took the time to have a conversation near the back entrance of 5a.

also i get the strong impression all the attention on the timeline was seen as incriminating to the tapas9 and even more the parents, even when some time later was asked if all would take part in a reconstitution at the scene itself, they show contempt and even said no in the end.

only i would have expected that people who mostly been medical doctors working with patients, one worked in a field of law, and 2 others in management roles would understand that you want to look at the full situation, to see what could also have happened besides these 9 people, for a silent desolate public street there been still quite a lot others been around.
if you already have concluded in your own mind only an abduction can be what is happened, why was it so hard to understand, that makes a sound as possible timeline even more important, because all things people do cost time, and you need that gap in the timeline for an offender to do its thing.

well over the years we ending up with many timelines, 2 written between the tapas9 without consult of the police. there is also one made, but not fully published by control risk, a company that assisted the family in the first few weeks. there is also a timeline to extract from the statements of the tapas 9 and others who been in that street that evening, or been working in the restaurant. and there is spoken that a even more different timeline was found in the belonging of kate mccann when the searches been done as a result of the dog searches in the villa too.

even with the usual margins because humans are usually not that good in time estimates and keeping times in memories at all, i never was able to fix a timeline that was sound enough to fully understand what played out that evening.
there are even easy to spot direct lies in some statements. and even with some 'keeping up appearances' in mind, it just does not fit enough to be useful at all.
