How To Survive When Logic Stands in the Way
Surround yourself with idiots
This isn’t a new phenomenon……actually this is one of the oldest tricks in management. A lot of people believe that when you surround yourself with idiots you will look better. The main premise is when you surround yourself with idiots anything and I mean anything you do will look better. Additionally, you will always save the days because the idiots in you team can't manage to do anything.
Believe it or not those who base their teams on this idea actually stay the longest in their jobs.
Well as a starting point when recruiting they dismiss really good candidates by saying that they are overqualified or lack the needed attitude (how tangible can you measure or challenge that?)
They recruit a bunch of idiots and not one. If they recruited one, that person would stand out but they recruit a number of people with similar traits so that they can work together and give the collective effect that they want to create.
They don’t publicise how incompetent their team is but leave people to discover this on their own. Given that the team is incompetent that usually takes a relatively short time to be known in the company.
They publicise how they save the day and how they cleverly manage their team.
Problem is: they are credible and others believe them.
