still not much, but today the head of the judge team in the 2005 rape case has taken the stand, to tell that the supposed once upon a time existed videos are been used as an extra, because of the equality in description by helge b en manfred s. to that of the victim. the victim diane m. never was in the the court room at that time, she was interviewed on video by as is said the fbi, from the usa.
the name of the judge is gerstin drayer.


but the usual tabloids from the uk and the german bild are moree busy with telling us, that dc mark draycott also is summoned to testify during this trial, still no date named. but he must be the officer that first spoke to helge b. in greece in 2017.


bild looks to be a kind of buoyed that the maddie case , that still was held on the back burner when people been testifying in this trial, now walks fully in. well let's see if that is not a bit overrated, helge b. sold or donated a pacjkage deal with cb his name on it, and that was including both never seen video's, that are part of 2 of the cases now in court and together with the 2005 rape case the foundation on the hazel b. case too.


so yes we can think ahead for ourselves that operation grange booked their tickets when the name maddie/madeleine or likewise was presented to them.
of course it would be very unusual if you pick up the phone to call from greece to tell you are a german citizen, but know things about crimes by another german in another country, the intrest would not be very high if that crime not reflect on something british. so these videos are mostly the extras.


also because operation grange could not find a hole to work any of the information, it is understood that they offered it first to portugal, and that , operation grange came to the understanding they did not have a need of fresh suspect people, because they already had some from the start. that only then grange called the bka in germany, wiesbaden most likely and they found in their pünktlich kept database indeed a german that very helpful already was their to proceed on, and from their the case about all kind of adventures landed in braunschweig, because cb forgot to wipe his former address from the books.


so the bka found a bit of help from portugal when they asked them to look in their database of unsolved crime, and as portugal is a country with marginal criminality, that can not been a large shelf.
and they simply took all files they had with rape and robbery and all they had that been about crimes against minor female children under 12.


they even found in portugal a box that still had the evidence material that later on was used in the german process in the 2005 rape trial, that actually already had a standing order to be destroyed.


and the lucky germans found a hair the portuguese missed. that hair was per dna expert dedicated to cb, and that was the hard evidence that gave him his verdict in that case. even that is disputed by another dna expert in a podcast, in german, i cannot find anywhere sadly, tips are welcome!


and that is the full story, that can be made from many sources, including the second book of amaral, bits of official paperwork and the tales of the german prosecution press officer.


and because it all started from the words of helge b. it is very understandable that the defence want to discredit his words, because it are exactly these words that started all of this and is the foundation, even in legal grounds under these cases and too when there in future times a case of madeleine mccann will see the courts with cb as the suspect.

the sun has a kind of replay with when was madeleine mccann gone missing, and how old she would be now, maybe as the first upmake to may 3, 2024.


the olive press has as it looks like a need to earn the train fare for later on, so they have stories about a old van again. to understand that van , or better one of the possible vans is now owned by the german police somewhere in germany.




and i have spoken to a german lawyer, and that results in having now the understanding that you can say anything you like in court about a case, hearsay, or not. they simply have hardly real qualifications about what can or cannot be evidence in a german trial. as long as the story teller is not found out to be lying its pants off, it simply is fully up to the judges what they accept to be evidence.


i could not get my mind around all the flying concrete of evidence by the press officer in this case, well we simply look to much into the law systems as we are used too. and the german law system is very different when it is about what is evidence usable in a court, well everything can be told to the judge(s), it is up to them to decide what is taken to take on in a verdict later on.


so people who take the stand can be under oath or promise, but that too is in the direction of the judge(s), you better not start to tell porkies under that, because that is taken as a serious contempt of court.


so now that can explain that all the concrete evidence that is enough, not enough or not even there is only to be viewed from the german insight in their principles of law, and as they hardly have that, it is easy to set up all these brave boys and girls of the media in the uk.


so when we from our own national viewpoints do not see the confessional words cb supposedly spoken to a helge b. in any way or form as evidence, it will still sit well under german rules.


but we could say, none of what is said in that court can be called evidence until the judges have spoken their verdict.


o, and the judge from the 2005 rape case is in the media under two different names, i have seen multiple combinations for her first name that could be gerstin , but also gesine, and her surname is most likely dreyer, but also drayer is used. and there are more g. dreyers working in braunschweig in the court system. most votes go to gersine dreyer at the moment. they at least agree she is 64 years of ages.

the early german news talks about another man from portugal who assisted in taken cb at the location of the playground, after 2 children made known to him a guy was showing his private parts to them.


no name is given and it was again by video coverage in the court.


cb had reflected at that time he only had to pie.


more details are not to find in the first pieces out from today, unsure if they will use a full day, or as often only half days at friday.


in may we will have a lot more court days, and on other days too, next date is may 2, 2024, a thursday and may 3,2024 a friday.

i found one who actually was in court, it usually is behind a paywall, but because of the information i will translate most of it directly through deepl.


At 10 a.m. on the dot, the Braunschweig Regional Court should have heard a witness in the trial against Christian B.: via video link to a Portuguese court. But instead: black screen. Thursday was "Freedom Day" in the south-west European country. On the bridge day on Friday, the majority of court staff conveniently went on strike. Only a skeleton crew was working in the court building, who were not familiar with the video technology. After telephone enquiries from Braunschweig and a long wait, the connection was finally established.


B. must answer for several sexual offences. The 47-year-old is considered the main suspect in the case of the missing Madeleine "Maddie" McCann. The police and judiciary in Germany were and are dependent on the cooperation of their Portuguese colleagues. However, they do not appear to be satisfied, as became clear during the trial. Among other things, B. is accused of exposing himself to children at a public festival in 2017. After the offence, these young witnesses first testified to the police and later before a judge. According to presiding judge Uta Engemann, they were asked "suggestive questions" during the latter interrogation, meaning that the statements could hardly be used by the standards of a German court.


Christian B.'s lawyer Friedrich Fülscher added that statements from various witnesses had been recorded by the police, in some cases word for word: "They didn't seem to have made any real effort there." For the first time in the trial, senior public prosecutor Uta Lindemann agreed with the defence lawyer: "We had to deal with the Portuguese police and the quality of the statements throughout the entire trial."


The credibility of key witness Helge B. is at stake - Scotland Yard investigator in the "Maddie" case will appear as a witness in Braunschweig Regional Court next Wednesday


One investigator who certainly has his own opinion on this is Detective Constable Mark Draycott from Scotland Yard. He is part of the "operation grange" team that launched a new investigation into the Maddie case in 2011. The child disappeared from a hotel complex on the Portuguese Algarve coast on 3 May 2007. In July 2008, the Portuguese criminal investigation department Polícia Judiciáriaden closed the case. That same year, the former chief investigator wrote a book in which he claimed that Maddie's parents had something to do with the child's death - a theory that is said to be popular in Portugal today.


Christian B. was targeted by British investigators after key witness Helge B. accused his former acquaintance in 2017. The latter allegedly raped two women and documented the offences on video footage that Helge B. claimed to have stolen. He also claims that B. confided in him about the Maddie case at a music festival in Orgiva, Spain, in 2008: "She didn't scream" - a confession? Draycott travelled to Greece in 2017 to question Helge B. Since then at the latest, the convicted sex offender Christian B. has been the main suspect in the Maddie case.


Draycott is called to testify on Wednesday - not about the Maddie investigation. you can see the uk media has not done any read up in the german system, not even when it becomes strange to follow.


but dc mark d. is not a witness for the defence, he is simply a witness for the court.
even he comes in by a motion from the defence, he is not working on their arm.


the defence wants a clearer answer about how it all was said before, not about the parts that direct to a possible madeleine case. it still wil be reserved to the cases at hand, the two cases of supposed rapes on supposed videos hb stole from the little finca in 2006.


i know even helge b. has a problem with painting the correct years in his own stories, and it will depend on how these two cases exactly landed in the first testimony in greece to dc mark d.


being heard in court is in this case different from just using a statement made before, because both are made under very different law systems on different soil.


the defence team will try to use all and every chance to discredit helge b. and that is where they are paid for of course.


and not everything has to be worked out in statements, it is unknown if it waas a witness report, or a full worked out verbatim statement. it would hard to believe they do not still have a tape with all the words spoken by helge b.


and what will count now, is if there have been promises or payments for helge b. his words, if answers been the results of questioning not accepted under german law. and if there are differences between the already known stories from official statements and media presences.


one of the motions about the videos no one outside helge b. and manfred s. say did have existed, was that the prosecution put years on both cases, and the years have meaning here, because if they took a longer time period in years, both cases could have reached the german statute of limitation.


helge b. served the prosecution by telling there was a year in the view on screen, being 2005.
what is quite a miracle , because we are told by both they looked only on the small screen on the camera itself. to read a date or even the year and still being able to get a good lok what happening on screen is asking for extreme well eyesight.


and going by the way this was asked by the defence, that year was not in the version of the earlier statement the defence also has already, most likely the version with all that reflects on a madeleine case is blackened out, the judges have the same, that must be the ones from the 2005 rape case in 2018/2019, and statements before that to the bka, the german police force that works serious crimes.


the comment on the pj, is not surprising, because these statements must be seen in the same way as the rogatories, but still it has to be done under rulings of the portuguese law. and that can mean it is done differently from german witness hearings and their statements. that can not be noted as an intent to block the german case.


there are no rules that can send a german police officer to take statements in another country. so they just have to work with what is possible and done in the portuguese ways.
they forgotten to ask very specific questions, and nothing outside that, usually that is done on instigation of the country the statements are taken.


like when the rogatories of the tapas 7 been done, the officers had to follow very strictly the questions the english cps was agreeing on. that is why they could not go much deeper in many answers.


it is already strange that these statements have been presented in open court, going by the age of the supposed victim(s) in the playground case of 2017, that would be on the brink of hearing behind closed doors. even when the witness now has reached adulthood by age.
the same is on the beach case from 2007 in portugal. also a minor as a victim, only now reaching adulthood.


the way other countries work their justice is not bad, just different, and germany can be the more different one in this. even in the eu, justice is still up to the countries itself. there is a lot going into harmonising, but there still are many differences. if that was not to their liking, they could have asked if the people who have been asked to testify to come to germany. citizens can decide that freely about that by their own free will.


this was the cheaper way to solve it. but yeah, you get it the portuguese way.


the same with the when, in advance it must have been planned on other days, but in court is hardly a strict agenda, it is more as the court proceeds, so they could have maybe chosen to do it by earlier appointed times. the first day in process was already thrown out, and more because of motions that had to be handled. the hearing of the judge was also not on the agenda. so landing on a day that most officers had their free days could be not come that unexpected. even germans can look important days and habits around national holidays on the internet. and as it takes two to tango, i think both simply lost sight of the when it had to be done.


april 25 is their freedom day, and that was last thursday. a very important day, and they have also a national holiday on may 1. so they could have know that, and just like all others in europe, when between two such days there is a weekend, it ends up in a short multiple days of free time.


would be the same if we had to call to germany from the netherlands, over here may 1 is not a public holiday, in germany it is, so that would be just as now happened sheer luck to find someone who would pick up a phone. and if it is important you can always check in well before.
maybe they just send an email on the 25th of april, that no one has read.

in august 2017 mark d. and consorts travelled to athens, greece to speak hb. hb was paid bus fare both sides and a cheap hotel. they spoke over 2 days, but mentioned is some hours. hb would not make a formal statement.


februari 8, 2018 hb travelled to london to make a already prepared statement, in english and signed it.


during this period of time hb was known to operation grange, they also stayed in connection with the german bka and the portuguese police.


so now it is waiting for the small details that are different when german reporters listen to english in court, and write about it.

but there are still two dates in between, tomorrow and next wednesday.


so who do we still miss, maybe bjorn another former not so much friend of cb, maybe the other child of the play ground case, they had already the two man and one of the then children in that, or the police officer from that case, or some ex girlfriends, there is the first silke still out and one from the uk, another one with a east european name, two actually a young one and an older one. both names with an n.

last week it became known the answer to the defence about a revision of the verdict in the 2005 rape case was not granted. problem was mostly because it was about the already used evidence in that case, and not new factual material or evidence, and that is the only route to reopen that verdict again. not only for that verdict, that is simply a common rule.


the media forecast says may 15 will be hazel b. the victim in a 2004 rape case will take the stand as a witness.


the german media outlets been pretty busy, most with a mix of this process, the 17 years of fall maddie as they call it and the new book. all with the standard disclaimer that even cb is innocent until proven guilty of anything.

it is slow going, the sun had an article with only older stuff, maybe that will be updated later,
the local one in germany also had nothing new about the testimony of hazel b. all was already known about that.


there are supposedly 2 days reserved for her case, there is spoken about two women from finland that had met with cb in the same hotel before, and about a picture of cb on that same or another balcony in that hotel, it is pretty large, it is about 30 minutes drive by car from praia da luz.


dna was supposedly in portugal disposed of, because it was not well stored. i have no idea of that came through a word of the prosecution or from hazel b. nothing about when. the only thing earlier spoken of was that material from the 2005 rape case was just by luck still available.


we already know portugal is not the only country that likes to dispose of material that class as biological material, the uk lab would wanted to do that very early after they took out the material they could test. not much news in that.


the local one spoke of a lot of media attention from abroad this morning at least. their articles about the case are behind a paywall, i could get around it, but not really anything new surfaced there too.


nothing about a scar, spot, tattoo, twist in a leotard or birthmark that walks through this story from the right leg to the wrong leg, the left one. what by hazel her words to the media was actually based on a bad translation from such a thing on the backside of the perpetrator in her case.
maybe they want to keep that for after the lunch break. maybe that will be the highlight of the day.


going by earlier media reporting there can be more witnesses to be expected, there was once spoken of a guy who saw cb escape from the balcony, and remembered that years later supposedly again, and there was spoken of old or former girlfriends of cb, including silke b. his first he travelled the first time to portugal with and lived some years with together in the little finca.

from may 15, 2024, i have to work only from my personal notes, that are not very neatly dated, i keep them just for each case in this trial separated.

may 15, 16 and 17 was mostly for the 2004 rape case around hazel b.
the link in the post before has a great write up about hazel b her words.

and it gets harder and harder to get a bit of insight what is happening in court, witnesses can be there in person, video testimony taken before, live video streams, by email or by earlier testimony against cb.

also there is no such thing that can be called a chronical route, or even case by case handling, it is pretty much all over the place, the media makes it even more into a maze.

so there was testimony by email of the boyfriend of hazel b. at the time of the rape case in 2004, a british guy who owns a bar in the area called jason coates. their relation ended around februari 2007, when he put hazel out of the door.

his testimony is supposedly that hazel made the rape story up, it never happened. most sources have it down as a typical catfight that often ends relations.

more attention there is given to the blue eyes of the offender in hazel her case, hazel thinks she recognises cb by his blue eyes, that was the only thing she could see of her offender.

the infamous scar, that before the trial made a rush in the media seems not had much covering, and hazel seems to have stated her words are badly translated and that she is not sure what she had seen at the time.

going from later notes, it seems it could not be a scar, because the defence takes on later that blue eyes to recognize are difficult to believe and accept, that there is no scar on the defendant.

well it seems it is back to a scar, a birth mark or a run in the tights. or in hazel words a clump of material.

there is said that pictures of a ‘scar’ have been shown to all lawyers.

hazel b. citation; i didn’t know what this marking was, i cannot recall word for word what i said.

questions asked from a witness are always under agreement of the judge. ands the judges can ask their own questions too. there is not really something as witnesses from one of the sides, everyone is simply a witness of the court.

the blue eyes as a concept to recognise people will have a expert witness testimony to expect on july 5, 2024.

there also was a lot to do about an email the head of the defence team had send to hazel b. around august 2020. there was a lot of frowning about how ethical that was, but in itself it was still a polite fishing for material to make use of during a trial, cb was not accused at that moment, and it was not illegal to use this kind of seeking contacts.

one of the people who was on the list to testify was bka profiler harald dern. he knitted the rape cases of 2004 and 2005 to most likely the same offender.

the defence plead him thrown out because of bias.

but as harald dern was ill and did not testify it stayed only a motion by the defence.

another bka officer rainer grimm , who is the lead investigator in the cases around cb as offender, had to declare a lot about the evidence findings done before on the terrain of the old box factory in neuwegersleben, in the state of sachsen-anhalt, and other points in the investigation..

it get a bit messy, as some of the content of the usb sticks was not listed as evidence in 2016 when found, but became declared evidence when handed over in 2018 to the investigation into cb by rainer grimm.

it seems these usb sticks contain the two nasty stories about a mother and daughter and the one called zofengeschichte.
what made the defence team asking by motion to declare the text of both of disputed legally sound founded evidence.

the defence sees the search or multiple searches at the box factory terrain as illegal entry and gathering evidence by officers of the law.

this information will have a come back later on.

the case files of the 2004 rape case of hazel b. was not handed over to the bka by the portuguese pj because they found it not similar enough with what the bka asked for.

there are 3 other crimes of a simular nature known in portugal with known offenders. they are available in the database in portugal.

hazel b. seems earlier in a police interview to have suggested that cb was left handed, cb is not lefthanded.

the bka says they asked first a full list of all unsolved sexual assault cases in the algarve, but did not get a reply.

the bka asked for unsolved cases similar to the ones of helge b. his words gave about the supposed videos.

sources are in dispute if the 2005 rape case was send by the pj, or found by the bka itself, the last is very unlikely, because there seems very little left in paper media or online at all.

about the 3 solved similar cases, and this must be about the cases as supposedly seen on video and the case of hzal b. the bka did not get back to portugal to check against these offenders.

it gets a bit more vague about since when the bka is investigating cb, some say 2013, when operation grange found the name in the files and ask to check up on the guy. there is a story from years ago, that cb indeed was invited to be heard as a witness in the madeleine case in 2013. but was given leave because of his explanation.

cb became in view again in 2016 in connection with the inga case and the box factory sneak peak of the neighbour that also is a police officer.

outside the court it was becoming known the defence had asked again to dismiss the testimony of helge b. this time because the officer who did the interview in english in greece supposedly was not qualified to handle that.

it was the day to hear the victim speak of the 2007 beach abuse case.
joana e, a german citizen, was 10 or 11 years old at the time, when an offender, naked besides his shoes on, grabbed joana, took her behind some rocks and made her witness his exercises with his male parts. when he was done he let her directly go.

she had done earlier a line up from photos and was then not so sure, 50% is given in some sources it could have been cb.

but later on she searched on her own all over the internet and after seeing many pictures she is now 99% sure cb is the offender in her case. she remembers may birthmarks on him, a few large ones on his back and the legs, just spread out, not in one place, but many across his back.

joana e citation; it was just his birthmarks which i noticed and his grinning.

there was very little reported on this case, no idea if it was because she was so young at the time, but this would be the same for the 2017 playground case of course.

these both cases do fit with cb his earlier convictions at the start of his criminal adventures.

i could not find anything about a brother and parents who been painted too as witnesses in the media during the years before.

not much about the teeth story, the rabbit teeth cb supposedly in secret has medical treatment and an operation on, in a german clinic somewhere in 2007. so that seems mostly a media myth.

that have been hot days in court. it have been days of explanation of how the evidence was fixed.

we have words from titus stampa, it is unsure if it is a real name or not, or just a phonetic british translated name, but the guy works at the bka.

there are also the dogwalker steve m , and katharina schmidt his partner, both said to be neighbours to the terrain of the old box factory cb owens at neuwegersleben in sachsen-anhalt. katharina is also police officer in stendal. she does not work for the bka.

because some sources named this too as reason why the police officer from next door decided to take a look at the box factory.

next during a environment check flight something was noted that could be a crime in that segment of the law.

but no worries, a story with a helpful rottweiler dog was easy enough to fix as it seems.
so the dog of steve and katharina accidentally put its nose in the air and took of onto the terrein of the box factory, so steve walked in after the dog, saw some cloth peeking through the dirt and smelled a bit of decomposition. so steve called in katharina and both called other police officers, and all joined in on a bit of expedition, the police officer forgot any tools, so a lent spade was used to take some dirt away and they found a dead dog, and a plastic bag from lidl with 6 usb sticks and 2 sd cards.

katharina was only thinking to solve the inga case.

but this is not all, it seems the finds with nasty pictures and the environmental checking flight together was needed to the big raid later on, based on suspicions of environmental crimes and child porn. the big raid was not only fore german eyes of kripo, but also the bka, no, scotland yard had an invitation to and is said to have joined in.

if you think that was all , it is not. the strange thing was already why these findings in 2016 nowhere left any trace of a conviction or even a trial.
well this latest testimony makes that easy, they already know they could not get a warrant, so with a bit of good old fantasy and a dog tried a bit overly amateurish staging to get that search warranted at last.

so it was not that strange the defence team put in a motion again to get it of the case as illegal gathering of evidence.

the two stories must be in, because they also found bits of it back in emails cb forgot to wipe from his send box, he seems to have cleared his inbox, and they found the email address in another case, that of frank s. the undertaker that talked to cb over skype about doing nasty sexual orientated deeds to children. another case cb never was in court for.

but they also had a harddrive from a pc cb used in 2007, the travelled to portugal to get it in their hands by one of the many former girlfriends of cb. and that is a bit of a problem too, they did not ask the portuguese for permission to play investigator on their soil and also took possible evidence from an in portugal still slightly open case into missing madeleine mccann.

but because they think they can still use the information from emails , they got from an inlog into skype with frank s. the undertaker, and from that asked microsoft ireland through a warrant for looking into the email they still think they have perfectly sound evidence.

the email stories are not done, they are not exactly fresh findings, they asked microsoft to obey in 2017 and got the access in 2018.

but the officer of the bka who told most of this all titus stampa, told the material from the emails was looked into in both investigations, the one about the trial ongoing and the madeleine case, the last they call simply a homicide or murder case.

the defence has asked after the email debacle for a cease and desist order on the british media.

in the time between these days and the next day in court the defence has put out a motion to retract the arrest in these 5 cases, as no evidence was presented in the witness statements, that could agree with a reasonable amount of cb being the offender.

and in between there was an enduring motion to get the files of the case of madeleine mccann. and it is true, hardly any witness could leave it out to at least name her name in their words.

the defence sees is as just one and the same investigation, so it would be strange to single that out.
only the official people seems to remember when that usually when something is mentioned in a trial, it becomes part of it too.

following this case through the media is very hard, it often takes days before something comes out, others easily reuse it up to weeks later. or it hangs to dry in a side bar and the search engine picks up just another article.

for the parties in court it is less hard to follow, because they all have at least the full prosecution files, so it is just folding the file to the correct page and going on.
there is not even a court listing the days before who will be heard in court.
