The Disappearance of Madeleine McCann - Introduction

Young, old or in between there can't be many who haven't heard of the disappearance of the little 3 year old child, Madeleine McCann, no surprises the tragedy is being used to introduce this forum.   If for no other reason, the press and media combined have turned the tragedy into a lucrative venture from that fateful day to this day.  There have been many twists and turns on the long journey but ultimately the only thing left open to guide public thinking is the original investigation conducted by the Portuguese police, which began in May 2007 and ended just over a year later when the case was archived pending further evidence to resume the investigation.

It happened one fateful day in May 2007 when little Madeleine disappeared whilst holidaying on the Portuguese Algarve with her family and a group of their friends.  The parents well respected and loved professionals from middle England with no known reason to be suspected of criminal activity but still that stigma must haunt their lives from that day to this but they alone are not the victims, that epithet belongs only to their daughter Madeleine - despite what the press and media might wish the reader to think.

Over the years the case has attracted many ex-police officers and amateur detectives from home and abroad, some with good knowledge of the case detail and some with little knowledge of the case detail but alas, to no avail - the case of little Madeleine McCann's fate remains unsolved.  The only known indisputable fact, little Madeleine seemingly disappeared off the face of the earth when holidaying in Portugal with her family.  In an official capacity it's only a working police force that can proceed with an investigation, members of the public be it amateur detective or retired police officer are not positioned to move the case towards a conclusion but that's no reason to stop talking.

So here we are today so many unanswered questions open to further debate - notorious cases throughout history never lose the attraction of professionals and amateurs alike, it's inborn in most of us to play the detective - hence 'who done its' are so popular.
Some interested in this particular case think they've already solved the mystery, some only use it to make money or make mischief whilst other good hearted people share a genuine interest and perhaps compassion for the disappearance of a 3 year old child - by all intents and purposes no longer of this world.

There are so many aspects surrounding the case of missing Madeleine McCann that have been misconstrued, misinterpreted, misunderstood, mishandled yet there has been some very constructive rational debate about the case across various platforms.

Whatever the individual perspective, the case is still open for unbiased realistic deliberation.
